Job Offer – Foreman (Metal Fabrication Shop)
About the Position
Are you a hands-on leader passionate about metal fabrication and team management? We are looking for an experienced and motivated foreman to take charge of our shop's direction. Under the supervision of the general manager, you will be the key person to ensure the planning, organization, and supervision of daily operations, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
We are seeking a dynamic candidate with an excellent sense of organization, capable of reading and interpreting technical plans, mobilizing their team, and tackling various challenges in a constantly evolving environment. Requirements
Main Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the work of welders and assemblers in the shop.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, budgets, and deadlines.
Interpret plans, specifications, and sketches to guide production teams.
Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff.
Maintain time and production records.
Plan and prepare the shop schedule according to available resources.
Monitor project progress to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Collaborate with the project engineer for the evaluation and receipt of materials.
Recommend measures to improve production methods and efficiency.
Provide training on safety, procedures, and equipment use.
Quickly and effectively resolve technical or organizational issues.
Desired Profile
Leadership and Team Management
Ability to motivate, coach, and lead a team of welders, assemblers, and other shop employees.
Aptitude for conflict management, applying discipline, and fostering a positive work environment.
Planning and Organization
Establish and manage production schedules based on human and material resources.
Effectively prioritize projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
Reading and Interpreting Technical Plans
In-depth understanding of plans, specifications, sketches, and technical requirements.
Ability to provide clear directives to employees based on these documents.
Technical Knowledge in Metal Fabrication
Solid experience in welding (mild steel, stainless steel, light and heavy structures).
Familiarity with the assembly of structures, frames, piping, tanks, etc.
Understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and quality standards.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Mastery of occupational health and safety regulations (OHS).
Ability to train and raise employee awareness of safe practices.
Quality Management and Continuous Improvement
Verification of compliance of parts with specifications.
Implementation of measures to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
Interpersonal Skills and Communication
Ability to communicate clearly with management, employees, and clients.
Ability to quickly resolve problems or complaints.
