WORK LOCATION: Engineering Department, 1333 CHOMEDEY BLVD OFFICE 801 A/S ENGINEERING, LAVAL DIRECTION H7V 3Y1
You will perform various technical tasks involving the development and execution of civil engineering studies as well as the creation of plans, drawings, graphics, and other visual representations using various software (geomatics, vector graphics, etc.), specifications, and preliminary estimates.
In particular, you will conduct drainage studies and preliminary design of roadways, sewer and watermain networks, as well as other infrastructure within the municipal right-of-way for the installation, rehabilitation, or replacement of municipal infrastructure.
You will participate in measurement and surveying work as well as the viewing of video surveys, in support of design or intervention decisions on the networks.
More specifically, you will:
- Conduct various research tasks for general information, technical data, topographical compilations, or others, as part of studies and projects to be commissioned by the Service.
- Develop content and write various technical and administrative reports, then submit them to your supervisor for approval.
- Perform on-site inspections of surface or underground elements and verify, using surveying and measuring instruments, the elevation and alignment of works according to plans and profiles, in accordance with current standards, and write written, visual, and photographic reports as needed.
- Design and maintain inventories and databases regarding elements of underground and surface networks, including condition data.
- Education acquired through a college diploma (DEC) in civil engineering;
- Possess thirty (30) months of relevant experience in the function, as described in the summary above;
- Knowledge of environmental standards;
- Knowledge of the legislative framework in natural environments (water environment);
- Comfortable working in varied conditions (natural environments, weather, etc.);
- Strong observational skills and analytical ability;
- Monitoring of work in natural environments (an asset);
- Understanding of hydraulic and hydrology concepts;
- Possess a valid driver's license and a vehicle;
- Possess an ASP construction card.
