Production Supervisor

Sierra Floral Distribution (9546-7031 Quebec Inc.) is seeking a Production Supervisor (30 hours per week) who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the production of bouquets and floral arrangements to achieve production targets while considering profitability, deadlines, quality standards, and health and safety.

Responsibilities:

Operations

  • Supervise the execution of production operations to meet established objectives for the day;
  • Ensure the daily planning of activities (entries into the Product Management system, regular and holiday weeks, hours used in production, changes, projections, switchovers, etc.);
  • Anticipate and communicate any product shortages expected during production;
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed (quality, sales, purchasing);
  • Supervise the safe use of production equipment and schedule regular machine maintenance;
  • Establish production procedures, standards, and specifications;
  • Coordinate with the flower processing and quality team to establish supplier quality standards;
  • Prepare reports and analyze data to identify problems and trends and recommend improvements;
  • Manage continuous improvement and change, and participate in finding solutions to improve processes by place;
  • Work closely with other departments (sales, procurement, shipping, merchandising, etc.);
  • Attend daily and weekly meetings;
  • Participate in, execute, and/or manage, individually or as part of a team, inventories of non-perishable, perishable, and finished goods as needed;

Human Resources

  • Organize teams according to production needs to ensure production standards are met (both during regular weekdays and holiday periods);
  • Implement a succession plan to ensure continuity of the department;
  • Participate in the hiring, coaching, training, disciplinary, and performance evaluation processes for the team;
  • Manage the professional development of the team;
  • Responsible for communicating objectives, action plans, and Team KPIs;
  • Ensure employee quotas are maintained and communicate them (individually and/or as a team), and make the necessary adjustments to achieve them;
  • Verify employee hours in the payroll system;
  • Manage agency timesheets;
  • Coordinate staffing needs with temporary staffing agencies;

Computer Skills

  • Enter and understand information and reports from the Board software
  • Create pivot tables

Health and Safety

  • Implement and ensure compliance with company Health and Safety policies and ensure compliance with the CNESST;
  • Participate as a committee member to quarterly meetings;
  • Project managers for projects within your department;
  • Act as first aiders (training required).

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a production environment;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing the production of bouquets and arrangements (planning, inventory management of raw materials, finished products, and perishable goods);
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and Outlook;
  • Strong ability to learn internal software;
  • Completed high school diploma and/or any relevant related training;
  • Floristry/horticulture training is an asset;
  • Experience in managing employees.
