Summary of the job:

Under the supervision of a civil engineer, the incumbent will be required to act as a draftsman. He will be involved in municipal, road and road engineering projects.

More specifically, he will have the following responsibilities:

Tasks of a technician

  • Design and computer-aided design for civil engineering projects
  • Perform engineering design in its discipline
  • Design and check plans and sketches
  • Develop, prepare and verify shop drawings
  • Participate in the development of plans and specifications in the discipline
  • Prepare estimates of quantity and construction costs
  • Participate in different activities related to site supervision
  • If necessary, communicate with customers or suppliers
  • Carry out the required surveys on the worksites
  • Edit topographical surveys made by our surveyors
  • Work in constant collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams
  • Helping to improve drawing standards and efficiency

Tasks of a draftsman

  • Interpreting plans and specifications techniques;
  • Design and computer-aided design for civil engineering projects;
  • Coordinate systems with other disciplines and the architect and ensure have the required clearances around equipment for maintenance;
  • Participate in design with the design team;
  • Participate actively in planning, organizing and coordinating projects;
  • Perform shop floor verification;
  • Carry out required surveys on work sites;
  • May need to prepare estimates quantity and construction costs;
  • On occasion may support the team for site inspections;
  • Help improve design standards t efficiency.

Required skills:

  • Good knowledge of codes and standards in force
  • Knowledge and skills with AutoCAD drawing software
  • Knowledge and skills of Civil 3D software (an asset)
  • Team spirit

  • Rigor, meticulousness and attention to detail

Training and accreditation required:

  • DEP-DEC in civil engineering
  • Certification (ASP card) of the course General health and safety on construction sites

Years of experience required:

  • A minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience
