Foreman - buildings

Nature of work:

Under the responsibility of the Director of Public Works, the person plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and controls the activities and resources related to the City's buildings and public lighting.

Sample tasks to do:

  1. Transactions
    • Provide maintenance and repairs to mechanical equipment and architectural components of City buildings:
      • Validate internal requests and coordinate the work to be done;
      • Manage maintenance contracts for equipment operation;
      • Schedule work for approved projects;
      • Regularly audit all mechanical equipment and buildings.
    • Ensure the operation of the public lighting of the City.
    • Manage the tanks and distributors of regular and diesel fuel.
    • Oversee and perform compliance audits of work performed by contractors to validate that the work is in accordance with the contract.
    • requisitioning products and materials for its section; control quantities, their yield and quality.
    • Determine the directions, objectives, and priorities of your section with your supervisor and make recommendations to improve processes.
    • Ensure that the tools, equipment and vehicles used by its employees remain in good condition.
    • Address complaints from citizens and commercial and industrial companies about any problem that falls under its jurisdiction.
    • Participate in decision making and directions for service.
  2. Staff Management
    • Plan, distribute, coordinate and verify the work of its employees.
    • Foster a positive and safe work environment.
    • Apply the provisions of collective agreements.

    • Control and manage the payroll of staff under his responsibility.
    • Approving the expenses of his section and participating in the preparation of the annual budget.
    • Collaborate in the preparation of contracts and technical specifications related to its section.
    • Perform other related tasks.

Work schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, from 7:15 am to 3:30 pm;
  • Rotation guard for weekly periods during which the incumbent must be available 24/7 to answer emergency calls (approximately 8 times per year).

Salary range: $ 65,000 to $ 85,000

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Have a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in an appropriate discipline, or any other training deemed relevant;
  • Have three (3) years of experience in similar functions, including supervision of unionized personnel;
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Hold a certificate of the course General Health and Safety on Construction Sites (ASP);
  • Knowledge of the Building Code and the National Fire Code Building ;
  • Possess knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Master French and English, written and spoken.
