SUMMARY

The Health and Safety Coordinator coordinates the processes and activities of the Environmental, Health and Safety Programs to assist the Account Team in maintaining compliance, mitigation and compliance. management of environmental, health and safety risks, as well as related performance improvements

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Coordination

  • Act as the first point of contact for environmental, health and safety requests and incidents.
  • Provide advice to members of the environmental, health and safety account team, and refer management to requests as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the implementation of environment, health and safety programs along with related processes, procedures and resources.
  • Coordinate environmental, health and safety activities, including but not limited to health and safety committee meetings and activities, incident investigation and resolution, security clearance , equipment and systems registration, contingency planning and business continuity planning, training, return to work, annual re-registration of the management system, compliance audit
  • Study environmental, health and safety issues and provide conclusions and recommendations
  • Assist in the creation of environmental, health and safety documentation including, but not limited to, plans, processes and procedures and maintain it
  • Create and maintain documentation including, but not limited to, instruction sheets, checklists, forms and training materials
  • Maintain Business Continuity and Emergency Management Plans and Procedures
  • Participate in field inspections, job observations; audits of health, safety and the environment and other types of reviews to monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements and to identify risks.Present findings on risks and suggestions for improvement

Investigate incidents, resolve and reduce them

  • Participate in incident investigation and resolution, including root cause analysis and provide probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution
  • Coordinate the implementation of corrective and preventive measures
  • Contribute to the identification and analysis of trends. Communicate observations and offer suggestions for incident mitigation measures

Audit compliance, data maintenance and reporting

  • Maintain all environmental, health and safety data, including but not limited to incident data, criminal record checks, compliance data in relevant databases and all other types of information storage systems
  • Assist in the verification of compliance records and all other environmental, health and safety data
  • Prepare and distribute various environmental, health and safety reports, including, but not limited to, reportsincidents
  • Perform other assigned tasks.

STUDIES, RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM SCHOOL: High school diploma in addition to technical or specialized business training

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: More than one year and up to three years

Theoretical and practical knowledge

  • A certificate in one or more of the following fields: Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Certificate in Environmental Management from a Community College or University Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences
  • environment

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of work experience in environment, health and safety
  • Understanding of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements
  • Understanding emergency management requirements
  • Strong organizational and co-ordinating skills, ability to coordinate multiple imperatives simultaneously (ie processes, activities, projects, emergency procedures, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, as well as some ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to maintain and report accurate data
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment;
  • Bilingual French / English required

Business License or Agreement

Demonstrating interest in obtaining one or more of the following titles would be an asset:

Security

  • Canadian Certified Safety Professional, Canadian Council of Certified Safety Professionals
  • Health and Safety Consultant, Canadian Society of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Hardware Security Professional, from ASIS International
  • Certified Protection Professional, from ASIS International

Business continuity:

  • Accredited Business Continuity Management Institute Business Continuity Planner
