Construction Project Manager

Job Description
Assume responsibility for major renovation projects according to an established budget plan. Take charge of all stages of the project, from establishing needs to coordinating
preliminary studies to completion of the work, while ensuring compliance with deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the analysis, prioritization and development of projects according to the findings of disorders and needs for all assigned buildings.
  • Ensure the availability of budgets by synthesizing technical needs and challenges, estimating costs and preparing presentation files for special projects. Participate in
    the development of annual budgets.
  • Manage construction sites in collaboration with professionals. Ensure the quality of renovation, enhancement, disaster rehabilitation, home adaptation and building standards.
  • Orchestrate public calls for tender, by invitation and by mutual agreement, to retain various services necessary for the development and implementation of projects. Solicit and negotiate with external professionals and contractors in accordance with the contract management policy of the organization in question.
  • Analyze service offers, bids and payment requests and make recommendations to the organization.
  • Verify the compliance and quality of services (contracts, plans and specifications, expert reports, construction start-up and completion documents, budgets, schedules, guarantees, etc.)
  • Work closely with organizations to ensure solid coordination with occupants and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits and issue visit reports as needed.
  • Draft summary quotes and site supervision for minor works.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in renovation project management or in construction.
  • Excellent work ethic, attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while respecting deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent understanding of building standards and legal requirements.
  • Good technical understanding of construction principles.
  • Sense of initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time and priority management, proactivity and autonomy.
  • Good stress management and adaptability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or any specialization related to the construction field and 2 years of experience.
  • College diploma in architecture or certificate in architecture with more general knowledge in all technical disciplines related to construction and 4 years of experience
  • Have a good command of the French language (oral and written)
  • Good command of the Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Have a vehicle and a valid class 5 driving license.

Assets

  • Knowledge of the regulations and laws of contract management in the public sector.
  • Have an ASP Construction card
  • Knowledge of BSI.net software

Type of employment
Full-time, Unionized

Working conditions

  • 35 hours per week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or according to project needs after agreement of the immediate superior
  • After 120 days of service: Group insurance, group RRSPs (employee and employer contribution combined up to 18% maximum)
  • 3 weeks of vacation after 1 year of service
  • 10 sick days and family obligations after 1 year of service
  • Hourly wage between $31.07 and $34.72 /hour
  • Telework according to the policy in effect
