Estimator/Project Manager

We are looking for a motivated and organized estimator/project manager to join our dynamic team in the specialized construction sector in northern Quebec. The ideal candidate will have a passion for their work and excellent teamwork skills.

The incumbent will be primarily responsible for processing, tracking, preparing, assembling, transmitting, and archiving all administrative documents required in the process of responding to calls for tenders or requests for proposals for the estimation component. They will also be responsible for the planning, execution, and closeout of construction projects for the project manager.

DUTIES:

1. Project Planning

  • Develop a detailed project plan, including objectives, milestones, required resources, and schedule.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing technical and financial requirements.
  • Identify and manage project risks.

2. Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring compliance with projected costs.
  • Track expenses and prepare regular financial reports.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes.

3. Team Coordination

  • Supervise work teams, including engineers, architects, and laborers.
  • Organize regular follow-up meetings to ensure good communication between all stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule flights for laborers.

4. Progress Monitoring

  • Monitor work progress, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to assess progress. and resolve any issues.
  • Update the project plan and schedule based on any delays or necessary changes.

5. Document Management

  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of all phases of the project.
  • Prepare progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Manage contracts and legal documents associated with the project.
  • Request monthly payments.

6. Safety Standard Compliance

  • Ensure that all site activities comply with applicable safety standards.
  • Implement safe work practices and conduct training for teams.

7. Project Closure

  • Organize project delivery to the client, ensuring all contractual requirements are met.
  • Evaluate client satisfaction and collect feedback.
  • Conduct a post-project analysis to identify lessons learned and improve future processes.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS'S SUCCESS

  • Assist estimators in preparing and coordinating responses to calls for tenders;
  • Ensure the production of documents within the prescribed deadlines;
  • For specific shipments, ensure the availability of airmail shipments while ensuring that submission deadlines are met;
  • Identify the documents to be submitted and follow up with the people responsible for keeping these documents up to date;
  • Prepare the electronic platforms required for submitting bids, if applicable;
  • Enter and verify price schedules;
  • Submit bids within the required deadlines;
  • Monitor openings and communicate the results to the various stakeholders Interveners;
  • Classify and archive documents, manage databases and files.

During periods when there are fewer responses to calls for tenders to prepare:

Help move the company forward by researching new software that can improve the administrative side of the business and conduct internal TeamBuilder-type training.

Also:

  • Sales and Prospect Management:
  • Update the sales and prospect table (new contacts, file progress);
  • Update the list of potential clients;
  • Assist in the preparation of service offers and bids for maritime clients;
  • Support for meetings and Responsibilities:
  • Organize and coordinate internal and external meetings (invitations, agendas, room reservations, follow-up on minutes);
General administrative tasks Update client contracts and administrative documents; Monitor contractual deadlines and ensure the renewal of necessary documents; Maintain the event calendar (conferences, training sessions, trade shows, client events);

  • Good team spirit;
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the Construction.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computer tools such as; Office 365, MS Project, WORD, EXCEL, POWER POINT, etc.
  • Excellent written and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Open-minded and creative.
  • Attentive to detail.

Compensation: $48,066.18 to $107,956.11 per year
